1945 Saurer 8M, 1 of 79 Built, 8 wheel drive

For sale is this extremely rare Saurer 8M. Built in 1945, as one of the last of only 79 total built between 1943 and 1945. It was developed for the swiss Army to pull heavy artillerie over narrow mountain roads. Very compact as it is only 5,88m long and 2,00m wide with a tread of only 1,57m but weighing 7,4 tons empty. With its 8 wheel drive and swing axles (see picture) it has 45cm ground clearance and has extreme off-road capacities. If you hear dry sump engine you probably think race cars and not trucks but this one has a dry sump 6 cylinder 8 litre engine, linked to a 5 speed forward, 1 reverse gearbox coupled to a 2 speed transferbox. It was restored to a high standard by its previous owner and is in good running and driving condition.
