Daimler 250 V8, year 1968.
This old lady is in fairly good condition and still equipped as originally, including the RHD. She was introduced to the mainland years ago by an English businessman. She has a Daimler Heritage certificate, which shows that she was originally delivered by the garage that also supplied the car(s) to the legendary English racing driver Sterling Moss. The Daimler 250V8 is the luxury version of the better-known but less rare Jaguar MKII. Every classic car enthusiast will immediately recognize the subtle differences in styling. However, the less experienced enthusiast will need to be told by the proud owner that this is not an Inspector Morse Jaguar. When Jaguar took over Daimler, they retained the fantastic Daimler V8 engine and the three-speed Borg-Warner 35 gearbox for this exclusive car, which were built into the beautifully designed MKII body.
Being the latest owner since 2016, the car has slowly but surely received significant upgrades, especially technically. Among other things, the cooling system, brakes and brake lines, fuel lines, steering, heating, lights, and SU carburettors were addressed, overhauled, and replaced with original parts as necessary. The gear-box has been revised by as specialized company. Inside, there was more work to be done, but everything was restored to its original condition: headliner, carpets, seat leather were replaced, and the woodwork was refurbished. All electrical wiring was repaired so that all dashboard instruments and interior lighting now work optimally. The bumpers were replaced with the thin variant that was originally on the '68 version. The exterior colour was given by one of the previous owners. And although it is no longer the original English racing green, it received a fantastic original green Jaguar colour with which it can shine for many more years. The new owner will be the lucky possessor of a fun and reliable car, ready to hit the road and participate in fantastic classic car events. As with all classic cars, there are still possibilities for improvement and further upgrades.
